postgrey running but shows up DOWN - djtech - 03-23-2010 12:58 PM

System is running fine, but under server status it shows that postgrey service is down. When I checked with "/etc/init.d/postgrey start" it says that postfix greylisting is already running and a Pid_file already exists.

I also checked /etc/postfix/main.cf and it shows "check_policy_service inet:127.0.0.1:6000," as an smtp_recipient_restriction and it is not commented out. So, if the service is running and the config file is ok, why is the status DOWN? What am I missing?

Which OS ?
Check the Port on that postgrey is running.
The GUI only checks if the Port is open or not. It has not really somtehing todo with working or not working.

OS is Ubuntu 9.10.
Not sure how to check what port postgrey is running on.

netstat -tlnp

ok. Postgrey shows up as follows:

tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:10023 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 1489/postgrey.pid -

Still DOWN even after a reboot.

So your postgrey is running on port 10023. Make sure that postfix's main.cf uses this port to communicacte with postgrey, and change the panel port for postgrey accordingly (the gui allows you to modify the port for each service).
