64 bit environment - D57452 - 10-15-2007 11:27 PM

will ispcp work well under 64bit environment?

RE: 64 bit environment - ephigenie - 10-15-2007 11:29 PM

short answer : yes

if you're talking about 64bit linux distributions
(no idea about i.e. ispCP on opensolaris on 64bit machines - but it should work with minor changes if all required software is available)

it's a good news to me,coz i m going to have a new machine with 64bit

RE: 64 bit environment - raphael - 10-16-2007 11:59 AM

actually, it should work on any OS which has all the requirements and is POSIX compliant (some modifications might be needed on the config files, but there's no other kind of limitation).

RE: 64 bit environment - Sweeny - 10-18-2007 02:32 AM

It _SHOULD_ work ... but without a offical paket list which packages are needed on any distro it is very hard to get it working ... and the debian package list doesn't show everything which is needed on other OS versions. So I think the devel team must prepare a package list without OS specific packages.

(I didn't get ISPCP working on Slackware 12.0 because after the 20th package which was not on the package list I gave it up)

It runs on
**
Debian Etch 4.0
Linux 2.6.18-4-amd64 (Debian 2) (gcc [can't parse]) #??? 1CPU
**

with the "normal" package list.
Maybe you're right that some distro specific package lists (and configs) are not ok until now - this should be solved until the stable version.
