DNS Resolver experiences - rbtux - 03-18-2008 01:29 AM Hi guys what du you have on duty for caching-only dns queries? We got here PowerDNS (its fast, easy to configure, but somehow unreliable. Strange things happen with CNAME records or 4th and 5th level domains...) We used to have bind (reliable but a bit overkill for resolving) Heard about djndns but never used it... any experiences? PS: PowerDNS: Some guys here might remember that I voted for powerdns a few times here. Well we have migrated all our dns zones from powerdns back to bind last weekend, because powerdns was not reliable. Bind needs more resources but it works whitout other drawbacks... RE: DNS Resolver experiences - kilburn - 04-24-2008 07:03 AM djbdns has always worked great for me, but it's unique service control (svscan) and logging are really annoying. On the other hand it's configuration is still a lot more pleasant than the bind counterpart so I'll stick with it for now |
