Exchange and Ispcp - Krisxxx - 10-01-2008 04:24 AM

Hi
Is it possible to use some kind of exchange software and ispcp on the same server? I could read in the forum that open xchange and ispcp doesnt run together on the same server. I need a calender function, so that i can sync with other users.
Thanks
Kris

Exchange runs on windows and IspCp only runs on unix-like oses so it is impossible to run both of them on the same server unless you also use a virtualization solution, sorry.

I know that Microsoft exchange is windows software, but is there some open source software that works like ms exchange or open xchange that can run on an ispcp server? Could use that software like that Smile

Not really. But you can try eGroupware --> http://www.egroupware.org/Home?lang=en#.
or Tine 2.0 --> http://www.tine20.org/

But it is not to compare with OX or EX Sad

Btw. Can i just install it on my ispcp server with apt-get install egroupware. Will it have no effect on my current ispcp setup?

It shouldn't have any effect on your ispcp setup but it probably won't work as-is: you'll have to modify the apache setup to enable an egroupware-specific virtual host.

Tine 2.0 is really new and not complete so your choice is eGroupware.
Download the newst .tar.gz from the eGroupware Site and install it as a normal PHP Application.

I choose egroupware, but i got stuck in the installation where i have to put the path of Users and Group Files e.g. E:\Files or /file in part 2 of the installation. Which path do i choose there on my debian system? It says that i cant put the folder in the webservers docroot. Where do i put it?

You can also put it to /var/www/ with the correct Permissions that Apache can read it.
