ispCP vs cPanel - BioALIEN - 05-11-2007 06:16 AM

This thread is a comparison between ispCP and cPanel. Please lets keep it unbiased and informative. Factual information only. refrain from posting about who sucks or who doesn't. Your opinion is appreciated, but give a full and valid breakdown of what, why, how.

I will start the thread by comparing our predecessor VHCS with cPanel and we can take it from here as a starting point:
http://www.guru-host.com/en/articles/cpanel-vs-vhcs.php

The final outcome of this thread will help us outline the comparison tables of ispCP vs other panels on this website.

ispCP uses your systems packages where cPanel compiles its own versions.
cPanel does not use standard system locations for applications.
cPanel does not work with Debian (believe me, I have tried)
cPanel is expensive, ispCP is free.
ispCP gets it's bugs fixed.
cPanel supports SSL out of the box, ispCP doesn't (I am fixing this Smile)

There is more, but I cant think of any at the moment.

I've tried too... and not even the tech support could get it working under woody! (you can guess that sarge was a no-no and etch... a definitive no)
