Admin Menu - MrMakealotofsmoke - 06-21-2009 08:49 PM

hey all
i know this has probably been posted a million times, but i cant find a post with an answer in it.

I have installed my ispcp

my hostname is
webserver1.domain.com
ip is my local ip (192.168.x.81)
admin is
admin.webserver1.domain.com

All this works, but i can only view the control panel from domain.com or on the server itself webserver1.domain.com

admin.domain.com doesnt work which is annoying and am i able to actually have a website at domain.com without having just the login stuff (when it works)

And no i have not touched any dns stuff as i cant find anything on it.

Thanks

BTW, this is my 1st time on linux and im using debain.

You need a correct running DNS in your Network!
Search around the Net and Google for it - good luck.

well i have a microsoft dns server running of a separate machine for all my pc's.

i just have never really dealt with anything more than setting up a host name my my local machines (eg router)

And you use THIS server as DNS in your Network ?
Then add admin.webserver1.domain.com to it.

well i added a new forward lookup zone as domain.com as my one for all the other pc's is bacon.local.

I then added admin.webserver1 to it (so its admin.webserver1.domain.com) to the local ip of the server (.81), but i still get a page load error and so do others outside the network.

IP of dns is 192.168.x.80
IP of webserver is 192.168.x.81

EDIT: i think i missed a bit out lol
i use zoneedit for my nameservers as i dont know how to setup a nameserver in my dns (i looked but it didnt work).

You must able to ping via the DNS.
Also try a nslookup to be secure.

well i added admin.domain.com to the zoneedit (dns nameserver) and it now works. But how can i add a page to domain.com and it not be the login?

hummm, it will be a pain to add the subdomains manually all the time Sad

If you create a Page "domain.tld" the LoginPage is after that only under "admin.domain.tld" accessable Wink
