Upgrading from ispCP 1.0.0(20090225) to 1.0.2 is safe? - robbo007 - 08-25-2009 06:46 PM

Hello all,

I spend hours getting my server all setup and working correctly. Its now live and clients onboard. I've seen a few errors after the upgrade on the forum.

It the overall upgrade safe? Or and I going to shag my system?

Is this the document to follow for a successful upgrade or is there some automatic script?

http://www.isp-control.net/documentation/doku.php?id=start:upgrade:rc

Apart from the security fix in squirrelmail are there any other reasons to upgrade?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

The main reason for the 1.0.2 is the corrected webmail (and maybe corrccted pma).
The Webmail from 1.0.0 has a security bug.

So I'd rather replace theese two folders (make backup and copy the config) than do an update...

There are also some small correctens in the code - but if you don't have problems: rather leave it.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Are there any docs for this process?

Cheers,

Rob

You may adopt some parts of the manual update (nightly update) process which should be described somewhere...

http://www.isp-control.net/documentation/doku.php?id=start:upgrade:nightly

for webmail:
have a closer lok at the folders webmail/config (maybe your config) and webmail/data (many data and configs from the user)

that's the proper documentation for 1.x.y upgrades
http://www.isp-control.net/documentation/doku.php?id=start:upgrade:rc

as long as you don't use squirrel mail, stick with 1.0.0!

make sure you really do the complete backup procedure, you'll need them!

got two options:

1. use 1.0.2 and search the forums to solve the problems you'll most likely get
2. stick with 1.0.0 and disable squirrel mail for some other mail app like horde and wait for some release that fixes 1.0.2's bugs.
