mysql database creation error

I'm using Debian Etch (and thus MySQL5) and the latest trunk install from about 2h ago.
When trying to add a database using client/add_sql_database.php the script fails silently. I did some research and found the reason to be the SQL code "CREATE DATABASE 'id_dbname'" where it should be "CREATE DATABASE id_dbname" (note the backticks) - at least that's what I think it is, because it worked and created the database "'id_dbname'" when adding the backticks.
