maybe: install packe "file" (a binary to determine the type of a file)

It says "file" is up to date when I try and install it in cpan.

Not sure why the test is still not showing it as installed.

this is a unix app not a stupid perl cpan modul ;-)

So what is the unix command to install it?

I did a apt-get install file and it did some installing and told me to autoremove some older files no longer needed. The test still shows it missing.

you did restart amavis after that, did you?

check in amavis config if the test is commented out. Debian does that sometimes (at least with archivers...).

I've restarted amavis and it doesnt help.

Maia seems to be filtering emails and the users are able to login to their quarantine. I wonder if it is a false report from the ./configtest.pl
