Question/Problem webmail

Hi there!

I am experiencing some problems with the webmail on a fresh Install (ISPCP on Ubuntu 8.04):

If I create a mailaccount in the user-backend, all it says is ".. in progress". But nothing is really done there. How long does it take ispcp to add an account?

if I try to longin to webmail i get an "Unknown user or password incorrect." If I try tools/pma/ to look up the database all I geht is an "Existing configuration file (./config.inc.php) is not readable."

This may be related to User restrictions in Ubuntu. What is the right owner-assignment for the files in /ispcp/ (www-data is current)?

i chmodded the config file for now, an I am able to access the pma

the mail_users table shows my user and pass. But still it is not possible to login to webmail!

Im am really stuck here.

I cant figure out, why

a) the system does not make any change (new domain, new mailaccount etc) within the next few minutes (I didnt wait longer, vhcs did it imho within 2 minutes)
b) mail/webmail does not work. Debug does not turn up any internal ISPCP errors. Courier restarts without any error....

Did you install exactly following the steps in the INSTALL file?
I installed ispcp a bunch of times on Debian (really similar to ubuntu) and never had a problem with permissions.
Please double check you didn't forgot anything in the steps.

2) You can use your mail client to test, just connect through IMAP to your server, if it works it also shoud work with webmail (both are IMAP)

There is an INSTALL file in the Ubuntu folder which I followed exactly!

I however can not say, if this file works properly, since this is my first install on Ubuntu (I would have prefered Deb but unfortunately was overruled by my co-workers).

IIRC the VHCS-System runs a deamon, is this the same with ISPCP? Maybe that is the reason changes are not made by the system?

please open pma, and look at the table mail_user. Please tell me what in the row status on the affected mail adresses.

if there is an toadd. Your deamon isnt running simply.

Then try to run it manually /var/www/engine/ispcp-rqst-mgr

The status reads "ok", the Daemon is up and running.

The mail.log reads something like:

unfortunately my VHCS documentation from my old server is somewhat 300km away at my office, so I cant really remember, if something similar happend to me with VHCS (and may therefore be not related to Ubuntu)...
