Why not just follow the instructions manually? It's a complex process and unless the script can do error handling, you risk winding up with a very broken system.

Post a topic about your troubles and someone will try to help you.

Aside from the lack of developers (cPanel Inc. has paid developers, this project has developers that do this in their spare time), there is a wider support of OS. cPanel/WHM only supports RHEL/CentOS and FreeBSD. ispCP supports Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS/RHEL, OpenSuse, Gentoo, and FreeBSD (kinda). It's a bit harder to automate against all those platforms without having multiple download packages.

Because GNU Automake is a horrible, horrible solution for automating stuff like that. Potentially, a tool could be made, but there are differences between even CentOS and RHEL that would make things difficult. While anything is possible, some things are just less practical than others.

It uses the DNS name you set up in the setup script.

When you ran the setup script, what did you set for the server hostname and administration hostname?
