as long as policyd does not run you can disable the need for it in /etc/postfix/main.cf (comment the line with :12525):

# check_policy_service inet:127.0.0.1:12525,

The other thing you have to check...

I have:

# ls -la /dev/null
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 1, 3 2009-11-06 10:28 /dev/null
