Restrict login of webtools (squirrelmail/pma/ftp)

Hello,

since a long time I am reading her with this helpfull forum. However, i would like to ask a question by myself:

I want to restrict login attempts on squirrelmail, pma and the FTP File manager.

I realised, that you can try usernames and passwords as much as you want (brute-force).

I plan to use fail2ban for this matter however, I can not find the error log files for the fail2ban use. For example squirrelmail gives no error log, only access log. In mail.log you finde an error while the localhost tried to login as IMAP.

Do anybody know how to proceed?
