Problem after updating 1.0.4 to 1.0.6

I followed the update documentation from the wiki. Everything reported OK in the update, but whenever I try to visit a website hosted on the server, it now tries to download a PHTML file, instead of displaying the website.

Where can I look for errors? What could be wrong?

Running the following three commands,

a2dismod fcgid_ispcp
a2enmod fastcgi_ispcp
/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

made sites work again. The post where I found the solution suggested that I need to change:
PHP_FASTCGI = fcgid
to
PHP_FASTCGI = fastcgi
in ispcp.conf and ispcp.backup.conf then rebuilt.

Could anyone verify/reject this statement? If I need to edit that line, what commands do I need to run after editing it ?

New problem has arose:

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by

The gui for the admin panel is working fine .. but alias domains have this problem. Quick solution needed!

What logfiles should/can I check? I have been unable to find anything useful as of yet.
