New backup function
Hi!

Wouldn't it be nice to have the possibility to roll back over some days / weeks / months?
The size of the backup wouldn't be extremely high if resync is used. A nice description can be found here: http://linuxwiki.de/rsync/SnapshotBackups (only in german)
Resync doesn't support diff backup and compression so flexbackup or amanda mybe would be nicer to keep the volume more tiny.
But I don't know how long a backup would take and how much performace will be consumed.

RE: New backup function
Hi BeBe,
I've already seen the entry in the whish list. But think flexbackup or amanda are more powerfull. BackupPc is even more powerfull because it stores a file only once even it is located in different places. But I don't know if it is possible fit it ispCP so that it can cover our needs to backup each virtual host by its own.

I think if a new backup mechanism is included also the mysql databases of the user sould be saved in this backup. So you can really roll back.

Best regards Michael

We will see which Backupsystem would be the best.
If you want put your wish on the list as alternative...

A Backup of the users databeses is already in ispCP included.
Only the restore is not working automatic.

RE: New backup function
about a more complex backups system:

I, talking as myself, am not really sure ispCP will ever handle that part by itself.
We can probably provide some config files so it is easier to configure backups systems to make them backup/sync ispCP's data, but other than that it would be adding just too much.
