RE: DNS Question
or this
SDB driver for BIND9 that allows you to use a MySQL backend for the zone files. Zone changes in the db become immediately available in DNS without restarting BIND. The database format will work with the dnSQLpanel project to give you a web front end.

So if mySQL dies, the DNS server dies too? - when DNS(bind) die .. DNS will not work

RE: DNS Question
yeah but there are a few issues :

bind-sdb/dlz is not included in most distributions.
only "normal" bind is.

We prefer to make the whole system reliable.
For the later "big" Framework i'd prefer using powerdns with mysql as a backend "shadow" dns and for the frontend even powerdns with sqlite or bdb backend.
But that's not the near future.
Perhaps someone can look if i.e. powerdns is available in all distributions ?

But as always one - step after the other.
A good working DNS System integration depends on a good panel.
We'll first have to remove all those odd vhcs things like those "alias" domains and stuff like that.

That's already planned for the next (1.1 release).
If we got that database structure reworked - then we can add a switch for "auto managed dns" / "manually managed dns" Wink
and a panel to do this of course Wink

RE: DNS Question
I think powerDNS can be found in OS
Linux Debian Static 2.9.20
Linux Debian Sarge, Mandriva, SuSE (apt-get, yum or alternatives) Comes with OS
Linux RPM Static (Generic RPM, Redhat 6.x and 7.x, Fedora, RHEL)

So .. but i'm not understand you about this:

RE: DNS Question
i'm am using bind dlz-mysql for over two years now, its very stable and fast too.

Since Bind 9.4 its fully integrated in the bind sourcecode and it is maintained by the bind crew.
