RC4 Error message adding a user
hello
I first searched the forum about this problem and found a post but
i couldn't find the solution for it, this solutions didn't work on mine
i never had this error on RC3 , but i uninstalled RC3 and reboot then
installed RC4, I did that because when i tried to upgrade i kept getting
errors, so that was the only way to install RC4,this is happened when
i tried to add a new user:
sys_command() | ERROR: External command '/usr/sbin/groupadd -g 2006 vu2006' returned '9' status !
I don't know where is this coming from, i even deleted and put it back again
and no luck.
I have 2 IP address on ispcp : public IP for DNS & private IP for the server
this happen when i use the public IP address, which is the one i should use
for the domains DNS.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks

RE: RC4 Error message adding a user
have a look at the /etc/groups (and /etc/gshadow) - neither vu2006 nor gid 2006 should be used already...
Now yopu have to find out if the existing vu2006 is a remaining thing from the past or if ispCP gives wrong gid to new users...

hello joximu
Thanks for your reply, and i hope you can help me with these issues:
1- I setup my server : server1.kkmart.com and ip: 192.168.XX.XX
this ip is the private ip from my router , also i forwarded all the ports
that needs to be forwarded on the router, and i setup also on the router
a static ip,i pay for my dns which i took from my registrar where i
registered my sites, and i setup my first site on RC4, i can see the site
on the server only , when i try to write the address on outside computer
on the internet i got : "page cannot be displayed".
2- another thing that if i try to setup the main site which is the same
name as the dns : kkmart.com which my dns using , i got an error
"Master domain cannot be used"
3- If i want to uninstall RC4 completely and reinstall RC3 again
what is the best way?
Thanks again and sorry for many questions, if i know i will not
bother you.
I appreciate your help very much,.Thanks

RE: RC4 Error message adding a user
And what does the 3 points have to do with the subject?

hey - this board is for all and how can people find anything interesting here if it's all messed up?

Please sort your questions and open new threads BUT first read some of the older postings about DNS and why you should not use a normal domain name as host name...
