do you have a smtpd.conf somewhere (maybe in /etc/postfix/sasl/)?

yes i have this in /etc/postfix/sasl/

pwcheck_method: auxprop
mech_list: plain login
#pwcheck_method: saslauthd

I used the guide published on howtoforge.net "the perfect debian setup" leaving out the part on the configuration postfix with ssl and now everything worked, but the catch all don't work.

I have had a similar problem and Joximu says to me that I must change this line
smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous, noplaintext to smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous

and restart postfix

My servant works perfectly with that change.
If it is your problem my ingles is very bad and my translators enough but
