High number of php processes stay running for several days

Hi,

I notice that the number of php processes keep growing and growing on our server.

It seems that there are processes running for several days.

Is there some parameter that would kill all php processes that are older than x hours old.

I would venture to say that x should be 1 or 2, but even 4 would keep the processes down quite a bit.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
