Error Illegal variable name Install FREEBSD

Hello all,

I'm trying to install ispCPOmega on Freebsd 7.1 using the INSTALL file. Point three mentions to use portmaster to download the ports.

#portmaster $(cat ./docs/FreeBSD/freebsd-packages )

I get the following error:

freebsd# portmaster $(cat ./docs/FreeBSD/freebsd-packages )
Illegal variable name.
freebsd#

Do I need to declare something before? Can I install the required ports manually using the port command?

I try to install ispcp 1.0.3-1 on freebsd 7.2, I have the same ploblem
