Multiple domains pointing to one website
Hi,

I'm sorry in advance if there is an answer to my question and I didn't find it out.

I have several identical domainnames but with different top-level-domains like samename.com, samename.net and samename.org. How can I setup the system to ...

- make samename.* pointing to one web-presence
- receiving emails addressed to e.g. chuck@samename.org, chuck@samename.com or chuck@samename.net under one mailbox.

The providers DNS for samename.com, samename.net and samename.org is already pointing to the one IP of my ispcp-server.

Thanks for your help.

Oliver.

RE: Multiple domains pointing to one website
Choose one of the domains as the "main" one. Add the others as aliases of the first one, with two options:

1. If you want that people is always redirected to the main one (ie domain.com), add a redirection to it.
2. If you want that the user sees domain.{net, org}, but just with the same content (no redirection), specifiy "/htdocs" as the mount point (the same as the main one).

On the e-mails, you just have to add one "normal" e-mail and then the others redirected, done Smile

Hi kilburn,

Thx for your quick reply.

I did that:
'Add alias' to main domain: abcxxx.de

My entries:
Domain name: http://abcxxx.com
Directory mount point: /htdocs
Forward to URL: no

but the system refused with the message:
'Incorrect mount point syntax'

My ISPCP version:
ispCP 1.0.0 OMEGA
build: 20090225

on Debian 5.0.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Oliver.

Can't see that option 'Choose dir' (acc. screenshot). Do I have a different version?

Oliver.

You're completely right. It seems that this option (along with the ability to specify /htdocs as mount point) was removed somewhere between RC7 and 1.0 :S

I don't know what to tell you now...

Never mind Smile I helped myself installing webmin in addition and adding the domainnames to the virtualhost of apache. Worked fine.

Thanks anyway for your help. In my opinion it's a handy system, even more to create a stable set of configuration files. For the other stuff there is always a workaround.

Regards,
Oliver.

does anyone still have the lines of code that i could put back in to allow choosing the same /htdocs for the alias as the main domain name? that is a very useful feature for the domain alias option.

Considering that that answer was two years old, I'm wondering if the latest version of ispCP is able to easily handle the domain pointing & redirecting again? I too have several TLD domains which should be terminating with all links pointing to the primary assigned domain in the CP.
