I've tested the installation of ispcp v 1.03-1 on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS using the
documentation just a few minutes ago and it works fine. Nice job!
There are only a few needfull things, wich should also be mentioned in the documentation and inserted in the package list for an ubuntu installation in future release. The last is important for all existing ubuntu installations based on debootstrap installation.
1. Step 5, the changing of dash to bash for Ubuntu 8.04:
It is important, that the user choose "No" after entering the command
Code:
dpkg-reconfigure dash
The user could misinterpretate the question, wich ask the user, if he will will use dash (wich is allready installed) instead of bash and "yes" is default value.
A tiny pitfall wich will potentially cause the whole installation to fail.
2. Using the debootstrap way to install a clean Ubuntu instead of using a preconfigured image from the host provider on a remote host is the "true" minimal installation. At this time, the package cron is not installed.
So, it would be perfect, to add in the future cron as needed package.
I've not tested it, but may be, on a debootstrap based debian installation is the same constallation.
