Maybe there is an Error in you Debian Etch Template.
We have some Users with OpenVZ and ispCP on it running - but never such a Permission Problem. Could you try another Debian Etch Template ?

yes that's the one...

I have been able to work with that template many times without any problem, including other control panels...

I don't know if you have the time, but if you do and are insterested, I can create you a vps with that template and give you access, so you can try and install it yourself...maybe you'll find whats wrong...

Maybe you can create a second root on it so I also can have a look at this weird thing :-)
I'd like to do some tests, just like the ones here in the posts...
