I just never tried it but you're right, checkout and update work exactly the same way when the folder exists! New code then:

#download/update trunk
mkdir -p ${TRUNK_DIR}
svn checkout http://www.isp-control.net/ispcp_svn/trunk/ ${TRUNK_DIR}
cd ${TRUNK_DIR}

Oh, and get rid of this line:

rm -fRv "${TRUNK_DIR}"
