manual DNS control question
Hi There,
I have just installed 1.0.7 and have a query about manual DNS control.

New domains are created fine and are given the correct MX records that are specified in the template.

The problem is that if i add a a custom MX record, it does not override the existing one, rather it creates duplicates.

For example:
10 mail.myserver.com [custom]
10 mail.domain.com [from template]
15 mail2.domain.com [from template]

I could just give my custom MX record a higher priority, but i know from experience that mail is often delivered to secondary or tertiary servers in any case, so this would not work.

I have the same problem with A records. For example, i would like to host a domain on ispcp and use the email features, but want to host the website elsewhere (because it is ASP). I can create a manual DNS A record for WWW and the other server IP, but i am still left with the one created from the template.

thanks for the help!

RE: manual DNS control question
You'll need to edit the templates used to generate the zone data. Do you want this for all domains, or just select ones?

RE: manual DNS control question
i just want to do it for one, or two, domains.

the majority of the domains i host use the built in mail and web features, but some host them elsewhere.

thanks!

RE: manual DNS control question
Hmm. That will likely be a bit more difficult as the way the software operates, it uses the same template for every domain. If I get a chance, I'll look into some possible ways to do this.

RE: manual DNS control question
We still have an open ticket for this. This was never fully implemented.
