IMAP folders not working

I moved all my sites to my new Debian ispCP server.

Everything works except IMAP. When I login to the webmail with a user, it creates a INBOX with the SENT, JUNK and TRASH UNDER the inbox folder!!!

This is wrong!

I need the user to be able to create any IMAP folder he/she desires outside of the INBOX. If I try to create a folder is errors: says something about invalid mailbox.

What can I do to move the folder where they belong and allow users to create imap folders from webmail and outlook clients?

you mean ispcp-webmail?
working with courier-imap (standard in ispcp)?

how is the behavour with an imap client like thunderbird/outlook etc?

could you post a "ls -la /var/mail/virtual/any-domain/anyuser/"

I am using your RC6 with the default Debian Etch installation with Courier.

I am using Webmail and Outlook 2007. As well as Windows Live Mail. All three will NOT create root imap folders. I did not have this problem with Dovecot so there must be a setting on the server seomwhere I need to change.

You will notice they start with a "." so this puts them under the INBOX which is NOT what I want. All my users should be able to create these folders in the top level like the INBOX, SENT and etc. Even teh SENT/TRASH and etc folders are under the INBOX which is messed up. They should also be in the root (top level) with the INBOX.

I added the word INBOX to the default root option in Outlook and it created all the folders as needed. I have gone into the webmail and deleted the SENT and JUNK folders but it wont let me delete the TRASH one. I redirected every account to Sent Items and Deleted Items.

Is there a way to make this the default folders and create them when the email account is created?

So far, this is working great!!!

Thunderbird als has "INBOX." as Mail-Folder and this seems to be ok.
But also webmail uses the right Trash and Sent folders... (as Thunderbird does...)

When you say right Sent and Trash, you mean the short non Outlook ones? Unix world ones? hehe

All my users use Outlook, so if I can get the system to make "Sent Items" and "Delete Items" and never show TRASH and SENT, that would help.

Does Outlook use "Sent Items" on a IMAP server? At least until and including 2003 it could not safe the sent items on the imap server...

Thunderbird uses the names "sent", "trash" etc but it writes the german names on it (german thunderbird)... this is also a difference to Outlook (german outlook -> "gesendete Objekte"... :-)

Outlook asks you for the location of the sent items folder the first time you use an account. You can also specify the folder as well. This works from Outlook 2003 and on. It also works in Outlook express and Windows Live mail.
