Sad Basic HTTP Auth Fails
Hi All

First of all ispCP looks great, I am current using VHCS2 and is looking to swith. I installed ispCP with now problems using the documentation and the recommendations from the Forum on Ubuntu 8.04.

Now this the tha bsic auth page that I have got, is seems to be problem with fast CGI and apache 2. Folowed this link and some suggestion in the forum but it still does not work.

http://www.digitalnerds.net/featured/apa...tcgi-php5/

This same page works 100% on VHCS2, any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

<?php
require_once('config.php');

function pesanTolak() {
echo ('<p align="center"><strong>Authorization needed!</strong></p>
<p align="center">You do not have access to this page.');
}

if (!isset($_SERVER["PHP_AUTH_USER"])) {
header('WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="ezRADIUS"');
header('HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized');
pesanTolak();
exit();
} else if (isset($_SERVER["PHP_AUTH_USER"])) {
if (($_SERVER["PHP_AUTH_USER"]!=$appUser) || ($_SERVER["PHP_AUTH_PW"]!=$appPasswd)) {
header('WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="ezRADIUS"');
header('HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized');
pesanTolak();
exit();
}
}

RE: Basic HTTP Auth Fails
should not be affected by authconfig... Butt PASS-HEADER HTTP-AUTHENTICATION (or thelike i don't know for sure) in the fastcgi config might do the trick...

RE: Basic HTTP Auth Fails
Hi thx for the feedback.

Added the following int he following file, but basic auth still now working. Is there somewhere else I should be adding the -pass-header HTTP_AUTHORIZATION line. Thanks for the help.

/etc/ispcp/apache/working/fastcgi_ispcp.conf

<IfModule mod_fastcgi.c>
FastCgiWrapper On
FastCgiIpcDir /var/lib/apache2/fastcgi

FastCgiConfig -minProcesses 1 \
-maxProcesses 400 \
-maxClassProcesses 5 \
-multiThreshold 80 \
-killInterval 60 \
-startDelay 5
# -singleThreshold 100 \
# -autoUpdate \
-pass-header HTTP_AUTHORIZATION ( Uncomment this )

also /etc/apache2.conf as requested.

#
# Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
#
# This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/ for detailed information about
# the directives.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
# 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
# whole (the 'global environment').
# 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
# which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
# These directives also provide default values for the settings
# of all virtual hosts.
# 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
# different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
# same Apache server process.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "/var/log/apache2/foo.log"
# with ServerRoot set to "" will be interpreted by the
# server as "//var/log/apache2/foo.log".
#

### Section 1: Global Environment
#
# The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
# such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
# can find its configuration files.
#

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# NOTE! If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)
# mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation (available
# at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.1/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>);
# you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
#
# Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
#
ServerRoot "/etc/apache2"

#
# The accept serialization lock file MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL DISK.

#
# You can modify the messages' appearance without changing any of the
# default HTTP_<error>.html.var files by adding the line:
#
# Alias /error/include/ "/your/include/path/"
#
# which allows you to create your own set of files by starting with the

RE: Basic HTTP Auth Fails
Thx for the reply but it seems fastcgi and apache2 still don't work.

I did the following:

Added the "-pass-header HTTP_AUTHORIZATION" line to the following files:

/etc/ispcp/apache/working/fastcgi_ispcp.conf

and

/etc/apache2/mods-enabled/fastcgi_ispcp.conf

FastCgiConfig -minProcesses 1 \
-maxProcesses 400 \
-maxClassProcesses 5 \
-multiThreshold 80 \
-killInterval 60 \
-startDelay 5 \
-pass-header HTTP_AUTHORIZATION
# -singleThreshold 100 \
# -autoUpdate \

also enabled "fastcgi_ispcp" modile in apache.

apt-get install libapache2-mod-fastcgi
a2enmod fastcgi_ispcp
a2dismod fastcgi
a2dismod fcgid
a2dismod fcgid_ispcp
/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

Basic auth with php5 still not working, anything else I can try...?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Basic HTTP Auth Fails
On my server $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_{USER,PW}'] variables are not auto-populated when running under fastcgi, and I've to "manually" build them from $_SERVER['HTTP_AUTHORIZATION'] directive like this (it's a single long line):

Code:
list($_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER'], $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_PW']) = explode(':' , base64_decode(substr($_SERVER['HTTP_AUTHORIZATION'], 6)));

Hope it helps!

Sad RE: Basic HTTP Auth Fails
Hi All

Thanks for the help. I must be honest and say that I feel that releasing ispCP was a bit premature with simple problems like basic auth.

I installed ISPConfig without any hazels and migrated my domain across. Basic auth is working 100%.

May be in the future when ispCP is a bit more mature I will revisit the solution.

Thanks for all the help

Regards.

I'm sorry to read that you've given up satlizard26, yet I must encourage you to do some research next time before making such hard statements.

A simple google search would have lead you to pages like this or this, where it's made clear that this is not an specific ispcp thing but a fastcgi+apache2 version dependant issue (and they're set by whatever distro you happen to use).
