Bastara para solucionar algunos problemas que quites dominio.com de tu hostname y dejes solo server. Con eso conseguiras arrancar el ftp sin errores. Y asegurarte que los modulos de sql como tienes en el post se encuentran descomentados en modules y el include en conf del proftpfd.
El tema de los passwords es lo mismo que los pongas tu como que los autogenere eso no influye para nada.

He hecho lo que ud. dice pero sigue sin funcionar, me dice que el pasword es incorrecto en /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf - esta puesto el pass que yo inserto,

MI-IP/phpmyadmin -- me dice not found
cuando ingreso al dominio y luego a base de datos mysql escribo - user@midominio.com o simplemente dominio.com mas el password y no me deja ingresar
