Quote:So pls give me 2-3 Weeks and everything will work super - fast
No problem, the Site works this time more or less.
Quote:as we already stated, a "gzip" is much less cpu conserving than the bzip2 compression - and it's not *that* much bigger.

I think this would help many hosting companies - not everyone can buy a new and always fast server.
Right! So we should really change to gzip. Did not Zothos started to do a script change ?

RE: isp-control.net is laggy,
I would really welcome this change. Major +1

Wouldn't you rather sacrifice a little more disc space for a less intensive CPU operation? We already know this is the cause, so why can't we use gzip as the default method in ispCP. Maybe someone should file a ticket?

RE: isp-control.net is laggy,
Hi RatS, can we change the backup compression from bzip2 to gzip?
gzip is not *that* good in compression (but only minimal bigger than bzip2 with normal web data) *but* uses far less cpu time and therefore ressources. It's doing the job in less than half of the time.
We'd love to read from you.

RatS answer:

Quote:Ich hatte irgendwann einmal bz2 aus Platzgründen eingeführt; das war noch zu VHCS-Zeiten. Das kann natürlich auch geändert werden. Werde mir das mal vor nehmen.

Looks like RatS is with us and we can try to switch to gzip!
